Gales of Winter

The wind and the waves are coming for your ship.

A violent winter storm has set in — the worst in a hundred years — and you’re still at sea. Fifteen miles from port. Your ship is taking damage. Sailors are going overboard. And every turn, the weather gets to go first.

Gales of Winter is a solo survival card game about making hard calls under pressure. Each turn, you draw weather cards — the minimum to stay cautious, or more if you’re willing to gamble. More weather cards mean more miles covered and more actions to spend on repairs, rescues, and survival. They also mean more punishment. More damage to compartments. More sailors lost.

The storm gives and the storm takes. You decide how much of each you can handle.

Race the weather to port before your ship — and your crew — runs out of chances.

How It Plays

Each turn follows a simple but unforgiving rhythm:

Draw weather cards → move your ship → spend your actions to survive.

The cards you draw determine both how far you travel and how much you can do — but every card carries a cost. Compartment damage. Sailors overboard. The push-your-luck decision of whether to draw one more card sits at the center of every turn, and the wrong call compounds fast.

Fifteen to twenty minutes. Real decisions. No second chances.

The Whole Game Fits in Your Pocket

Gales of Winter is designed to fit in an Altoids tin. Fifty cards, a small board, and enough tension to fill a room. It’s a game built for serious solo players who want strategic weight without the setup overhead — something you can pull out anywhere and feel the stakes immediately.
